Support Medical Assisting Education

Convention will be here before you know it. As summer is ending, we will be gathering in Louisville to share ideas and of course attend to the association's business. For many, Sunday is the special day of the convention. Sunday is the general meeting as well as Marketplace. Marketplace will give us time to view what is new in medical assisting education and publications, to have those wonderful convention luggage tags made, to see what is going on in the various aspects of the field and to talk with new contacts and meet old friends.

Convention affords a special opportunity to meet with former presidents of AAMA, who established the Maxine Williams Scholarship and Ivy Reade Relkin Surveyor Training Fund (recently renamed in honor of the founder of the fund). These individuals have so much knowledge about the history of the organization to share with you, and are eager to maintain both student and surveyor scholarships through our contributions to both funds.

The Ivy Reade Relkin Surveyor Training Fund provides monetary grants to help those who want to serve the organization in the role of surveyor but are short on finances to attend the required training workshops. When the CAAHEP Standards change, the CRB-AAMAE invites established surveyors to attend a special updating session while incurring minimal personal expense. Well-trained surveyors are so very important to the quality of the education offered by the accredited schools. Some of you have benefited from this fund, and you recognize the importance of its continuation.
